What is a DJ’s Most Important Skill?

A DJ is like a prism through which the various beats, rhythms and tempos of music are channeled to the masses. Beat-Matching is the transition from one tune to the next in a continuous flow of beats, tempo, and rhythm. The MusicEDU TrackFormers program teaches and gives young musicians the experience of being a DJ in their classes. They learn the important aspect that an experienced DJ never allows a pause between songs. Beat-Matching is a DJ's most important skill. The drum sounds match perfectly and the audience is never interrupted in their groove with the music.

How did the DJ movement start?

The term Disc Jockey was first used as a description of radio announcers who played gramophone records. It might surprise you, but at that time they were known as ‘discs’. Through the years, the term Disc Jockey has evolved into the current usage of describing someone who plays back music in a ‘live’ setting by using any method of music storage. You are probably already familiar with some of the types of music storage: CDs, iTunes, records, digital vinyl, etc.

Here’s how to learn more and teach DJing:

In the MusicEDU’s TrackFormers program, instruction is given for students in all areas of being a DJ. Young musicians are trained by one of Australia’s leading Urban DJ’s, Nino Brown. The famous DJ Nino Brown generously shares his DJing techniques and expertise with MusicEDU in the TrackFormers program, with the aim of inspiring the next generation of DJs.

You can read more details about Nino Brown on the MusicEDU Team Page. However, the best way to learn about DJ Nino Brown is to use the MusicEDU program digital ebook to teach your classroom.
