Keyboard Evolution Competition Overview

Entries Close:  Midnight, Friday 14 June 2019

1. NEW TO KEYBOARD

Students entering this category should be new to keyboard this year. Students may perform one of the ‘Main Event’ pieces from the Keyboard Evolution workbook. All performances must include the use of the Auto-accompaniment feature or a backing track. You may include pre-recorded sequences on the keyboard toward registrations as part of your performance. Participants will give a short verbal introduction to their performance which will include their name and school, plus the piece they are going to perform.
 

2. OPEN DIVISION

Students may perform one of the 'Main Event' pieces from the Keyboard Evolution workbook as an individual or part of an ensemble. This category is for students who have previously played piano or for beginner students ready to perform in a duet or small ensemble. All performances must include the use of the Auto-accompaniment feature or a backing track. You may include pre-recorded sequences on the keyboard toward registrations as part of your performance. Participants will give a short verbal introduction to their performance which will include their name, ensemble name and school, plus the piece they are going to perform (Max 4 students per group performance).
 

3. WORLD MUSIC COMPOSITION

Students will put together a performance of their World Music Composition from Session 12 in Keyboard Evolution. This category is for students who have previously played piano or for beginner students ready to perform in a duet or small ensemble. Performances may include the use of the Auto-accompaniment feature, saved registrations and other instruments, as long as the submission is an original composition. Participants will give a short verbal introduction to their performance which will include their name, ensemble name and school, plus the name of their World Music creation (Max 5 students per group performance).
 

4. WHOLE OF CLASS

Students may perform one of the ‘Main Event’ pieces from the Keyboard Evolution workbook as a whole of class. All performances must include the use of the Auto-accompaniment feature or a backing track. You may include pre-recorded sequences on the keyboard toward registrations as part of your performance. Participants will give a short verbal introduction to their performance which will include their name, ensemble name and school, plus the piece they are going to perform.

 

CRITERIA, DATES, & PRIZES

  • Students participating in the competition must be aged between 12 and 16 years as of 1st December 2018.

  • Entry is Free.

  • Students participating must be registered members of the MusicEDU website.

  • Video record your performance using a camcorder, mobile phone, or similar device.

  • Upload your video to the UPLOAD ZONE on the website by the cut-off date.

  • Late entries will not be considered.

  • Uploading an entry to the website constitutes agreeing to the terms and conditions of the competition.

  • Students must include their name and school either in an introduction on the video or as text to the Upload.

  • Competition Opens: Monday 13th May

  • Competition Closes: Midnight, Friday 14th June

  • Judging commences: Monday 17th June

  • Winners announced: via the website, Friday 21st June

  • Prize winners & selected entries will have their entries displayed in The MusicEDU Showcase

  • The judges' decision is final. Unfortunately, no feedback can be offered to every submission.

  • Prizes will be distributed within 30 days of the announcement.
